About the Denver Public Schools Asthma Program
There are over 5,000 students in the Denver Public Schools who have asthma. There are also students who are undiagnosed. Asthma is the number one reason for school absence for students with chronic disease in the nation.

The Denver Public Schools Asthma Program will help students with asthma stay healthy and stay in school.
The Asthma Program goals are to:
- Help students manage their asthma at school
- Help parents/guardians and students who have asthma learn more about asthma care
- Help schools assist students with asthma
The Free Asthma Education Program provides the following services:
- Education sessions for students with asthma
- Resource material (website, brochures, workbooks)
- Education workshops for students, parents and school staff
- Assistance for school-based support teams dealing with health issues
- Free lung tests for those who enroll in the program
